About Franciscan University of Steubenville

The Franciscan University of Steubenville is a Catholic institution located in Steubenville, which is a city situated along the Ohio River in Jefferson County, in the US state of Ohio, serving as the political county seat of Jefferson County, with a population that exceeds 19 000 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2000 census.

The university was established in 1946 and was founded by the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular. It currently offers its students associates academic programs, undergraduate major programs, undergraduate minor programs, graduate academic programs, distance learning and special programs, as well as study-abroad programs, overall, offering more than 40 academic programs, ranging from business, nursing, and education to psychology, theology, and catechetics.
